One star is for the breakfast and staff at the breakfast. Other than this, we left extremely disappointed in the room we paid for (the most expensive one of our 2 week trip) as it was nothing like the quaint, countryside the photos projected. Additionally, our room was above a grocery store, across the street, and was extremely outdated. We are on a bike trip and went out of our way to stay here- however looking back, Windschar was my only regret and I hope that other customers are not fooled by the marketing.
This hotel is in a small town, but it definitely does not have a small town feel. It has many things to do in the hotel to keep you satisfied and busy. The food has been 5 star so far, and the owner present and accommodating. I've read a book on my balcony with a beautiful view of the mountains. Later, I'll take a swim in the indoor pool and spa, or maybe the sauna. Tonight I plan on beating my wife in a game of table tennis! We've had drinks at their well stocked bar with locals and guests alike.
Service by all the wait staff has been impeccable. Even though some only speak small amounts of English, which I know can make one uncomfortable, they remain eager as ever to help. Rooms are great and clean. The desk will even book things for you, if needed. We'll be making a trip to Venice in a few days. There's great skiing close, the ski bus drops off right in front of the hotel. No reason at all to not make a repeat visit! 5 stars all around!
After a long and friendly conversation with the owner, he promised that the issues below were going to be addressed. Therefore, I raised the valuation from 1 to 4 stars, as misunderstandings may happen. Nonetheless, I keep my previous review below for future clients to see if the hotel is delivering on what has been promised.
Nice facilities but the service is not up to the standards and be careful not being tricked to book a room in a dependance of the hotel, which means 100 meters away, no direct access to main building, SPA etc, through private road, but only through the main public road with cars driving and no public lighting at night. This information must be available before confirming the booking.
Staff didn’t even help us to carry our luggages when we arrived with 2y old daughter and a 4 months pregnant wife. Had to walk all the stuff all the way on our own. No bottled water in the room, despite a minibar is mentioned in the room description. No electric water boiler in all of the hotel. Staff forcing itself to be kind and often not willing to help to solve a problem (like warming up your daughter’s milk with a microwave) until you shout at them. We also booked a walk with snowshoes, as in their program, then they inform us 5 minutes before going that it was going to be a simple walk.
Nice place, with quite good food, some interesting desserts.
Nice sauna and pool place, very clean. Biliard, and some games for the kids, small gym if you need it.
Top Hotel
Very nice workers, overall a good experience
Except for the somehow remote location, it definitely is one of the best way of enjoing South Tyrol (Alto Adige) in it's best. Special remarks for the friendly staff and the gourmet cuisine...
Top quality all'
